Neil Boortz Says 50% of America is Stupid
Sometimes I feel the same way. But the truth is that a lot of Americans have become complacent and lazy. I'm not willing to say stupid. I just think they feel no need to educate themselves.
I remember a boy I went to school with. He was considered by most to be extremely stupid. He had poor grades, and he couldn't read very well. But through hard work and a desire to learn, he became an A student during junior high. He wasn't stupid, just uneducated. It took hard work for him to be an A student.
I know most people are like that boy. They have the ability to learn, and the ability to reason, but have no incentive to learn while on welfare or living off the kindness of others. They tune into ABC/CBS/NBC and see the same news on all the channels and believe that what they are seeing is gospel truth. They see John Kerry (or some Democratic Senator) get on the air and talk about how hard it is for Americans to find work, and that jobs are going overseas in record numbers with no end in sight. Some might believe that soon we will no longer have anyone working in this country if the Republicans stay in office. And then it goes unchallenged. What would you believe if this was the majority of the reports you heard?
My opinion was reinforced last week when I heard that a Fox News Opinion Dynamics poll found that a huge majority of Americans think that our economy is getting worse. What have they been smoking? Our economy grew at a 4.4% rate during the first quarter of 2004, and these people think it’s in the tank? Employment numbers are up. Manufacturing is up. Government revenue is up. Incomes are up. Home sales are up. Home ownership is at record levels. Poverty is down. The truth is that our economy is doing amazingly well … and poised to do even better; yet the majority of Americans don’t realize this? The forecast for economic growth for the current quarter is between 4.5 and 5%. With these numbers, how can you say our economy is doing poorly? Maybe it’s because so many of these people rely on Entertainment Tonight for their daily news. You do know, don’t you, that more Americans get their news from Entertainment Tonight than from any other single news source. - Neil Boortz
The media understands its roll in controlling the thoughts and minds of the poor. The Democrats understand that their roll is to continue growing a country of needy citizens, whom they can buy votes from through government social programs. 50% Americans aren't stupid, they are misled. The simple answer is education. The hard part is getting everyone to want to learn.
