Bush's apology: Part 1

Today President Bush apologized for the humiliation suffered by the Iraqi prisoners. This was a good move and is meaningful for two reasons. First, Muslims need to hear an apology to know that this is not who we are or want to be.

Bush told Jordan's King Abdullah II in the Rose Garden:
"I was sorry for the humiliation suffered by the Iraqi prisoners and the humiliation suffered by their families.
I told him I was as equally sorry that people seeing those pictures didn't understand the true nature and heart of America,"

Second, If America wants to stand on a moral high ground, as I believe it should and does, then it is of the utmost importance to admit when we are wrong. We should admit when we are wrong even if the rest of the world refuses to do so when they are. America set the example today in it's apology and will follow through by punishing those that carried out these barbaric acts.
