I think the chick digs me.

Sally, I didn’t have enough space in the comment fields to write this reply so I’m posting it.

You wrote: (to protect the integrity of your comments I did not change your spelling, punctuation or the sentence structure of your paragraphs.)

“b.s. you are an a..hole!!!! you defend g.w.b. ,the same man who will take your 1st admendment rights away, the same man who dodged the vet. war and took a dodge ,got drunk, and smashed into trees. if your dream was to be a talk radio host, and you were on the radio now,you would see how hard it would be to keep your radio job with michael powell breathing down your back...lisen to howard stern and you will see what i'm writing about. next it will be the internet, and cable t.v. and books..and boy, maybe my bedroom ......”

Then later, since I hadn’t caught your first posting you wrote:

“bs,you did not respond to my message.whats the matter?you can't take the truth?you should pray that GWB losses the election.go to the fluff article .i would like to here your response.or are you not man enought.....”

My turn. Lets take it one at a time.

the same man who will take your 1st admendment rights away

Here is the 1st amendment as it is stated.

Amendment I

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

What religion has he established as America’s religion? If you have a religion what has he done to you to prohibit your exercise of it?

I agree to a point on freedom of speech, but only when it comes to The McCain/Feingold bill. This bill is a travesty and an affront to America – either way the Supreme court has said it is not unconstitutional. Your argument should be directed to the by-partisan congress that passed it (who shall make no law), Bush who signed it and the US Supreme court who said it was constitutional. It hardly appears to me that Bush is completely culpable in this.

He has not restricted the press.

He has not restricted your right to peaceably assemble.

He has not restricted your right to petition the government for the redress of grievances.

Your first point is baseless. Get a better argument. But lets move on to the rest of your rant.

same man who dodged the vet. War

You can’t honestly be ticked about this right? Assuming for a moment he “dodged” the draft (which he didn’t) he stilled served with honor and distinction in the guard. Are you saying that he did not serve with distinction? His discharge papers say otherwise. The fact that the press and the Democrats themselves have dropped this “non-issue” is another indicator that you’re on the wrong track. Wise up and move on like the rest of America has.
I’m assuming you voted for Clinton. Or maybe you weren’t old enough to vote back then. I don’t know. Either way Clinton is a confirmed draft dodger. He split so he didn’t have to serve. In fact he didn’t serve in the armed forces at all. Bush has. Again, he served “with distinction.”

Mad props to Kerry for volunteering for Vietnam, but his conduct afterward is reprehensible. Lately he’s been wearing his service like a badge of honor (which it is) but he found no honor in it till he started running for office. The man is an opportunist to the highest degree, and he should be ashamed of himself. But these are not just my words. Take it from a fellow Vietnam vet.

,got drunk, and smashed into trees

This is what you got against Bush? This is why you hate him? I’m making assumptions again, but were you angry when Clinton smoked pot? Were you angry when he committed adultery? Were you angry when he took us to war in Kosovo? Were you angry when he bombed Iraq? Were you angry with him at all during his presidency for his lousy work? Or did you excuse his failings because his world view fit more closely to your own? The truth is, is that Bush has more integrity in his little piggy toe than the entire democratic party. He says what he believes and he does what he says. Even the polls show that Bush has a high trustworthy rating.

As for his drinking: He admitted to having faults with drinking in 1999. He has stopped drinking altogether along time before he ever thought of becoming President. I respect a man who can control himself. If you like Clinton then you like a man who is uncontrolled. That says a tons about who you are.

. if your dream was to be a talk radio host, and you were on the radio now,you would see how hard it would be to keep your radio job with michael powell breathing down your back...lisen to howard stern and you will see what i'm writing about. next it will be the internet, and cable t.v. and books..and boy, maybe my bedroom ......”

I’ll agree with you that people in talk radio should be allowed to say a lot of what’s on their minds. But are we saying that they should be able to say anything and everything on public owned airwaves? Even Howard doesn’t believe that. We have standards of decency in the country. That’s why when you turn on your TV at night your not watching porn on the network channels.

If everything was allowed where does that leave most families that don’t want to hear or see that crap? I know what you’re going to say next. “Then turn the channel” right? I agree. But imagine you’re going down the highway and you see a billboard. On this billboard you see a naked woman and man having sex. Is it my fault that I looked at it? It would be like trying to avoid a giant elephant in your family room.

If decency laws were repealed I believe that there would be an onslaught of offensive material from magazines previously thought of as family friendly all the way to primetime TV shows. It would be rampant and all media would be affected. Are you saying that all media should be able to say and do whatever they want regardless of the content at anytime of the day or night? Don’t be so naive.

We have decency standards in this country for a reason. Michael Powell is only enforcing laws that are already on the books. Bush did not create them out of thin air. Michael Powell and congress, since the Janet Jackson incident, has been pressured by AMERICA to do something about it. Clear Channel dropped Howard from six markets. Obviously you’re still listening to Howard so he has not been silenced. He is still actively stating his protest for how he feels he’s being treated. He is not off the airwaves. Nobody has locked him up. Howard saying that he could be off the air has more to do with him not wanting to control his mouth than it does with Michael Powell or President Bush. Your anger with Bush is misplaced.

The bill that is in congress now is to increase the fines imposed for infractions of the laws already on the books. It’s a deterrent to break the law. Or do you feel people should break the law when they feel it’s necessary? By the way – the bill to increase the fines has some by partisan support. You might want to talk to Democratic House Reps, Ed Case, Mike McIntyre, and Lincoln Davis to see why they don’t like freedom of speech? Your words not mine. The fact is, is that they see a necessity to enforce law. If congress makes a law and then doesn’t enforce it what good is that law? (I do think that all non enforced laws should be repealed.) Do you see any value in protecting our children from such indecencies? So I’ll ask you again, should Howard be allowed to say anything and everything he wants no matter how vile or objectionable on public airwaves?

As for the end of your rant, I refuse to comment on something that hasn’t happened yet and most likely won’t. You’re making suppositions based on your ill informed opinions. You see a slippery slope where there is none, and you’re an easily led person unwilling to listen to both sides of a debate.

“bs,you did not respond to my message.whats the matter?you can't take the truth?you should pray that GWB losses the election.go to the fluff article .i would like to here your response.or are you not man enought.....”

I think I’ve answered you pretty well. I’m willing to continue this conversation as long as you wish. But let me reiterate what I’ve said in previous comment fields where the commenter is hostile like you. I will not tolerate swearing or FLAIRING. If you continue to use either I will ban you from commenting. I don’t want to do that. I want to have this dialogue and debate. But I also want it to be civil. I also have used forceful language in my reply, feel free to do that as well, but you will note I didn’t call you an a**hole. I called you naïve, ill informed and easily led.

I’m interested in your reply. I wonder if you’ll be like most Dem/Libs and not answer the content my argument but instead go into more baseless accusations. It’ll be fun to read your reply. Have at it Sally. I'm tired and I'm going to bed.
